A quick read, written in a breezy, accessable style. The author is engaging and humble, especially considering that he managed to follow through on his quest to read the entire Encyclopedia Brittanica. It is food for thought to wonder what all that information is good for, and to be fair: the author does explore this question. So why just three stars? Because the whole thing is just a novelty act. Maybe somebody somewhere could have taken this premise and made it into something truly great, but that's not what happened here.
