The Status Civilization

The Status Civilization - Robert Sheckley Reading antequated science fiction is always a kick - characters take interstellar travel and free-thinking robots for granted, but talk and interact with each other like characters from "Leave It to Beaver". Obviously the author can't be held responsible for this. The two stars are for the stilted style and halting dialogue. The premise- life on a penal colony planet- has been done to death since. The ending is a little bit of a twist, but O.Henry...Sheckley is not.
